Vida and the environment
Vida uses trees as raw material, a renewable material.
Vida uses trees as raw material, a renewable material that continues to bind the carbon in long-lived products. All other by-products obtained from the log are also used. A very sustainable and climate-smart alternative.
Slightly simplified, it is the case that growing forests absorb carbon dioxide. In Sweden, where we operate, at least two trees are planted for every one felled. Our long-lived products, above all structural timber, then bind the carbon throughout their lifetime. Other products such as pallets, cable drums, stable litter and cellulose chips bind carbon for a shorter period. From the material that becomes fuel, bound carbon returns to the atmosphere as carbon dioxide. Energy obtained is used at the own production units, for drying wood and heating premises, but also for heating many homes.
Vida creates even more of a difference by transferring transport to rail if possible. Transport by rail instead of truck reduces carbon dioxide emissions for each cubic meter transported.
